Hotel Chocolat has appointed former Proper Snacks marketing boss Daisy Barlow as its new marketing director as its global expansion continues.
Barlow will join the business from Mars on 6 July to replace former marketing director Lynne Ormrod, who left after seven years in April.
Currently EMEA marketing director for Mars health and wellness, Barlow brings over 15 years’ experience in fmcg. She started her career at Nestlé’s Purina petfood division, before joining M&S as a brand manager for convenience in 2014.
She spent three years at Pladis working as a brand manager for Jacob’s before joining what was then Proper Corn as head of marketing in 2018. She is credited with helping the brand through a period of rapid growth and launching its core popcorn proposition for the first time.
Hotel Chocolat has also announced the appointment of Isabel Staton, who is joining as VP of strategic initiatives and chief of staff to the president. Staton was previously finance lead for Mars Wrigley global finance. Prior to that she spent 10 years within Mars’ global petcare division.
Both are just the latest former Mars figures to join subsidiary Hotel Chocolat, following a major restructure of its senior team revealed by The Grocer last month.
The new global restructure – which is the most significant since Mars’ £538m acquisition of Hotel Chocolat in 2023 – comes as the retailer targets its next stage of global growth, having successfully relaunched into the US last year.
The restructure has included additions to the retailer’s newly formed US team and changes to marketing and sales teams in the UK.
“This raft of new appointments brings a new shape to Hotel Chocolat, rewiring around our two mega categories of chocolate as a gift and modern drinking chocolate,” Hotel Chocolat founder and global CEO Angus Thirlwell told The Grocer at the time.
