Iceland Foods is partnering with non-league football club Warrington Town.
The new ”sponsorship partnership” will see Iceland and The Food Warehouse branding appear at the Northern Premier League football club’s ground, Cantilever Park, during the coming season.
In return, the tier-seven club’s season ticket holders will be able to access “a range of benefits”, including 10% off at the tills when they shop at Iceland or The Food Warehouse stores.
Despite its Deeside roots and location, Iceland has a strong connection to the Cheshire town.
Warrington is the hometown of CEO Tarsem Dhaliwal. Iceland is also a major employer in the town, having recently invested £100m to open a new 500,000 sq ft distribution centre in the town’s Omega Park industrial park. It replaced an existing facility within the town. There are also two Iceland stores and one Food Warehouse already within Warrington.
Supporters wishing to access the discount will need to download the Iceland Bonus Club app and show their season ticket at the checkout.
“Having grown up in Warrington, I know how important the club is to so many people and families across the town,” Dhaliwal said.
“I’m proud that Iceland is working with Warrington Town FC to bring supporters real savings that offer amazing value and make a genuine difference for families facing ongoing cost of living pressures, while supporting a club that sits at the heart of the local community.”
The supermarket was committed to creating more opportunities “that benefit supporters, families and the wider Warrington community throughout the season and beyond” Iceland said.
Warrington Town chairman Toby Macormac said: “We’re proud to be partnering with Iceland Foods to give something back to the supporters and families who back us week in, week out.
“This partnership is about recognising the vital role local organisations play in bringing people together and creating opportunities that have a positive impact across the town.”
