Spud lovers have been offered the chance to ‘adopt’ their very own row of Jersey Royals.
Costing £50 a row, the ‘Adopt a Row of Jersey Royals’ initiative launched in November as a limited-edition gifting experience, with the money raised going to Caring Cooks of Jersey – a children’s education, health and wellbeing charity.
In return for their investment, adopters will receive a gift pack including a welcome letter, a personalised certifcate confirming their row and recipe cards, a personalised marker in the field by the adopted row and updates from planting to harvest.
They will also recieve, when it is time to harvest in the spring, a delivery of 10kg of Jersey Royals from their row.
“Jersey Royals mark the start of spring – they’re one of the great seasonal moments of the year,” said Tim Ward, business unit director for the Jersey Royal Company. “This initiative lets people be part of that story from planting to harvest and enjoy the satisfaction of tasting potatoes they’ve followed from field to fork.”
In season from April to July, they are available from all major retailers, specialist purveyors and markets across the UK.
