Black Sheep Brewery - Hero Brewery 1

It follows a £1m investment by Breal at Black Sheep last January

Keystone Brewing Group has received £2m in fresh funding from its owner as it looks to hit £100m in revenue by 2028.

The investment, supplied by Breal Group shareholders, would help meet growing demand, expand capacity and offer a more diverse range of products to customers, Keystone said.

It comprises infrastructure upgrades to boost fermentation capacity at Black Sheep Brewery and Purity Brewing Co, packaging and pasteurisation upgrades at Black Sheep, and new delivery vehicles and storage capacity.

Following a period of rapid expansion, Keystone had delivered circa £20m in revenue over the past 12 months, the supplier said.

It expects to double this figure in the next year through a mixture of licensing agreements, partnerships, new acquisitions and organic growth.

Keystone was on track to deliver revenues of £100m by 2028, Breal partner and shareholder Mark Williams said.

“This amplifies the confidence that we have in Keystone Brewing Group, and indeed this sector for the long term,” he said. “It is tough out there at the minute, but we continue to believe there is a real appetite for premium, value-for-money beers and ciders.

“Not only is Keystone on track to reach its revenue target of £100m by 2028, but it remains steadfast in its mission to deliver exceptional quality, variety and innovation to consumers both in the UK and worldwide.”

Steve Cox, CEO of Keystone Brewing Group, added: “This investment marks a further major milestone for Keystone as we continue to scale. With new breweries and brands joining the group and demand rising, it gives us the agility and infrastructure to expand capacity while staying true to the quality and character of each of the brands.

“We’re well equipped to grow in a way that’s both ambitious and sustainable.”

Keystone was formed after Breal acquired a clutch of distressed breweries including Black Sheep, Brew By Numbers, Brick Brewery and Purity Brewing Co in 2023.

In the past 12 months, Keystone has added further brands to its roster including Fourpure, Magic Rock and North Brewing.

It also distributes products from Wolfpack Lager, Big Drop Brewing Co, Hofmeister and Maison Sassy cider.
