Nisa retailer LA Foods has launched its 14th store, featuring the symbol group’s new fascia and proposition for the first time.
The London-based retailer said the 3,000 sq ft store, which launched in Islington on 8 August, cemented its 25-year partnership with Nisa owner Co-op Wholesale.
LA Foods and Co-op Wholesale extended their contract for a further five years in April.
The opening marked LA Foods’ new flagship store, according to the retailer, with a strong focus on Co-op own label as well as loose fruit & veg, with a new produce island positioned at the front of the store.
It aimed to inspire customers with convenient meal solutions while encouraging increased basket spend through quality and variety, LA Foods added.
Other features include an expanded chilled range and electronic shelf edge labels to help streamline operations and improve pricing accuracy.
It has also focused on food to go, with a selection of Co-op own brand products as well as an in-store coffee station.
With the rest of the 13-strong estate operating under a Nisa fascia, LA Foods said it would continue to benefit from Co-op Wholesale’s competitive pricing and market-leading availability.
The new store will also showcase community support through Co-op Wholesale’s Making A Difference Locally charity, which fundraises through sales of Co-op branded products to support local causes.
“It was great to be part of such a wonderful Nisa store opening, as it always is when it’s in partnership with a brilliant business like LA Foods,” said Co-op Wholesale customer director Martin Swadling. ”Marking the next chapter in our journey together is a really proud moment and it was extra special to be joined by so many local shoppers, who we hope will enjoy shopping here for years to come.”
LA Foods director Tabrez Hussain added: “We’re thrilled to be opening our new Nisa store in the heart of Islington and are delighted with how it looks and feels. The feedback from our shoppers has been excellent so far, which we’re over the moon with. Being in the centre of the community and serving customers what they need, when they need it is our main driver and we’re confident the new store can do exactly that.
“Our partnership with Co-op Wholesale is stronger than ever thanks to the support the team continues to offer us, while our five-year contract extension is testament to our outstanding relationship. We notice a real sales benefit stocking Co-op brand lines, too – the range is always well marketed and appeals to our customers looking for quality food. The pizzas in particular are a real hero product – we simply wouldn’t be without them now.”
