Lidl has donated £110,000 to charities across the country, with store staff choosing causes in their area to receive £500 each.
The programme brings the total donated to charity by Lidl GB since 2022 to over £2.3m, with more than 1,900 causes benefiting.
Store staff were invited to choose a local good cause that meant something to them and their community, with charities to benefit ranging from mental health organisations to youth sports clubs.
Separately, charities working with the discounter to redistribute surplus food from stores were given £300 Lidl gift cards. The programme, called Feed it Back, is in partnership with food redistribution organisation Neighbourly and has delivered over 50 million meals to charities and community groups tackling food poverty in the past decade, according to Lidl.
“We’ve made strong progress in our community investment, supporting millions of people in need through our food donations every year,” said Lidl GB CEO Ryan McDonnell.
“We are always striving to go further though, which is the inspiration behind this latest initiative. This empowers our colleagues to give support locally, creating meaningful change alongside our charity partners in the communities they serve.”
