Lidl is investing a claimed £250m in cutting prices of everyday items throughout 2025.

Lidl said it had reduced prices on over 1,000 product lines since the start of this year.

The cuts have made to everyday prices of essentials and staple products, according to the discounter.

“We’re committed to providing our customers with the best value every single day, and our teams work tirelessly throughout the year to deliver this for them,” said Lidl GB chief commercial officer Richard Bourns.

“We also firmly believe that everyone should have access to healthy, affordable food, which is why we ensure that we’re offering the lowest prices in the market and it’s why we’re on a mission to bring new Lidl stores to more communities across the country.”

Lidl also confirmed today that all of its UK stores would once again be closed on Christmas Day. Most of its stores outside the M25 are also to close on Boxing Day and all outside the M25 are to close on New Year’s Day.

The supermarket said it was expecting Monday 22 December to be its busiest trading day ahead of Christmas.
