Lidl has unveiled the recipients of the latest round of its Community Fund, with more than 75 causes across Great Britain set to benefit from grants of up to £20,000.
Delivered in partnership with giving platform Neighbourly, the grants will support groups including food banks, secondary schools, community volunteer groups, domestic abuse good causes, community centres and environmental organisations.
The largest grant this quarter was to Kitchen Social & Cookers Club CIC (Charity Interest Company). Since 2020, it has delivered over 45,000 meals to those on the Isle of Thanet, Kent, where one in four children are affected by poverty.
With the £20,000 grant, Kitchen Social & Cookers Club will purchase a vehicle large enough to hold each of the daily collections to help increase the distribution of food within the area and free up volunteer time to teach families about healthy eating.
Non-profit ReThink Food, which looks to tackle food insecurity in schools and communities, was also granted £20,000 to launch a national school pantry network. The fund will support schools in West Yorkshire and Liverpool to set up pantries for families or create supper clubs with an ambition to roll them out nationally.
“Our purpose is to make high-quality food accessible to everyone,” said Lidl GB head of sustainability Matt Juden-Bloomfield. “We’re proud to have helped these good causes and are sure their impact will help to reach so many more people.
”But our work doesn’t stop there, and we’d encourage any of the good causes in our Neighbourly network to get their submissions in for the next quarter of grants.”
Since launching in 2022, the Lidl Community Fund will have delivered £2m in grants by the end of 2025.
