Andrew Hicks joins from Woolworths Group in Australia

M&S has appointed Andrew Hicks as food marketing director, replacing Sharry Cramond, who is now leading marketing for the fashion, home and beauty division.

Hicks is joining from Woolworths Group in Australia, where he was chief marketing officer for seven years.

He will report to M&S Food MD Alex Freudmann, whom he previously worked alongside.

Hicks has more than 20 years of marketing experience across Australia and South Africa, including as marketing director for Woolworths Food and Woolworths Liquor, according to M&S.

He is due to start in September.

M&S said Hicks’ experience and insight complemented the food leadership team’s high-performance culture and would further drive it towards its ambition to be a shopping list retailer, while maintaining quality and value perceptions and remaining number one for trust.

It said he was one of a series of new hires as M&S “continues to raise the bar on talent and accelerate transformation”.

Cramond’s move follows the appointment of John Lyttle as MD of M&S Fashion, Home & Beauty earlier this year.

Kevin Bennett will take up his previously announced role as M&S Food logistics director – Gist CEO on 7 July.
