M&S has confirmed that rewards have returned in its Sparks loyalty app, a development that was revealed by The Grocer two days ago.
Sparks rewards were the among the services that were disabled after cyberattackers targeted M&S over the Easter bank holiday weekend in April.
The app had begun offering rewards again on Tuesday, such as discounts on clothing ranges.
M&S said today that the rewards were resuming with a range of “thank you treats and surprises” for loyal customers.
Over 1.8 million members will receive birthday treats this month, including Percy Pigs, Swiss Truffes, Prosecco and Outrageously Chocolatey Biscuits, according to the retailer. There will also be belated treats for members whose birthday was in May or June.
The app’s coffee stamp scheme has been reinstated, allowing members to claim a free drink after six purchases.
M&S is also increasing its 20% staff discount to 30% for four days, starting today, as a thank you. M&S’s 2,500 contractors across supply chains and partners are getting a temporary 10% discount.
“Over the last three months, our colleagues have demonstrated real commitment and teamwork,” said Sharry Cramond, M&S director of loyalty, fashion and home & beauty marketing.
“At the same time, our customers have shown us fantastic support and loyalty. These extra Sparks rewards are a small gesture to say thank you.”
