Greggs has appointed Mars Pet Nutrition global president Ikdeep Singh to its board as an independent non-executive director.
Singh first joined Mars in 2020 and was appointed to his current role as global president in 2022. Prior to this, he served as president of L’Oréal’s North American business and held senior roles at Procter & Gamble across North America, Greater China and global markets.
He will join the Greggs board on 1 July, bringing experience in leading large consumer businesses across operations, supply chain, innovation and transformation.
The food-to-go chain said his expertise in business transformation and digital modernisation would support the business as it continues to deliver its growth strategy.
“We are delighted to welcome Ikdeep to the board,” said Greggs chair Matt Davies. “He brings significant leadership experience in global consumer businesses, together with strong operational and digital expertise. We look forward to the new perspectives he will bring to the board.”
Speaking of his appointment on LinkedIn, Singh added: “Greggs is one of the UK’s most genuinely loved brands built on operational excellence, value, and a real connection with the communities it serves. That combination of scale, purpose and customer loyalty is rare, and it’s what drew me to this role.
“Having spent my career running large, complex consumer businesses across global markets, I’m looking forward to bringing a different lens to the board particularly around digital transformation, supply chain resilience, and what it takes to scale a consumer brand without losing what makes it special.”
It comes as Greggs continues to expand across the UK, having opened 41 new shops in the 19 weeks to 9 May 2026. In a bid to reach more customers in high-footfall locations that are constrained by space, Greggs launched a ‘Bitesize Greggs’ format in November and just last month, began a trial of its first ’Greggs Express’ unit – a self-service solution providing customers with more “convenience and speed”.
