Four three-step taco kits have hit Ocado

Mexican food brand Gran Luchito has expanded its range with a quartet of taco recipe kits.

Al Pastor, Barbacoa, Birria and Carnitas (rsp: £3.95 each) all feature a spice blend, base sauce and finishing sauce in separate sachets.

They are already in Ocado and will hit Waitrose on 20 October.

The “foolproof” kits offered “the perfect balance of convenience and authenticity, appealing to consumers looking for simple meal solutions without compromising on great taste”, said Gran Luchito.

“We saw an opportunity to offer something genuinely different in the meal kit space,” said Gran Luchito MD Paul Vita.

The result was the taco recipe kits, which drew inspiration from “the taste and experience of Mexican taquerias”, Vita added.

Gran Luchito has spent recent months expanding its distribution and launching products.

In April, it secured nationwide Morrisons listings for a swathe of products, including its taco and burrito wraps, salsas and burrito fillings.

Gran Luchito then launched a duo of taco seasoning sachets (rsp: £1.60) – Medium and Spicy – into Tesco in July.

Meanwhile, category-leading meal kit brand Old El Paso has also been expanding its repertoire.

The Tex-Mex brand extended its range of fajita seasoning mixes to include Smoky BBQ Extra Mild 35g and Fiery Chili & Tomato Hot 25g (rsp: £1.25 each) last month, to offer “even more choice” to shoppers.
