Fiona Fitzpatrick hosts a podcast and runs the Brand Growth Heroes ‘Mini MBA’

Protein cheesecake maker Mighty Slice has bulked up its team with the appointment of Fiona Fitzpatrick as business advisor in residence as the brand expands its presence in retail.

Fitzpatrick runs a consultancy and accelerator for food & drink startups, as well as hosting the Brand Growth Heroes podcast.

She is also responsible for the Brand Growth Heroes ‘Mini MBA’ in partnership with financial services firm Alantra, with Mighty Slice enrolled as part of the second cohort earlier this year.

Fitzpatrick brings 25 years of industry experience, having spent time at Nestlé, Gü Desserts, Premier Foods and frozen veg supplier Strong Roots.

She also recently stepped down as non-executive at fast-growing tempeh brand Better Nature after supporting the business’ next phase of growth.

Her appointment at Mighty Slice comes as the brand launches its desserts in Morrisons nationwide this week.

“Fiona joins us at a time of real momentum for Mighty Slice, marked by new listings, enhanced manufacturing capabilities and the surging consumer demand for high-protein products,” said Mighty Slice co-founder and CEO Emily Tout.

“Over the past year, we’ve focused on strengthening our senior team, with industry leader Giles Brook joining as a key strategic investor and advisor, and Rachael Claridge, formerly at Gü, stepping in as operations director.

“Having worked with Fiona during the Brand Growth Heroes ‘Mini MBA’, it quickly became clear just how much clarity and value her input could unlock for the business.

“Her joining us now as a business advisor in residence, closely working with the team through this new phase of growth, feels like the natural next step in that journey.”

Fitzpatrick added: “Emily and Jamie [Cumming] are impressive founders with real vision and a commitment to brand and operational excellence.

“From the outset, it was clear that Mighty Slice has the potential to disrupt the chilled desserts and dairy category, capitalising on the trends we are seeing in healthier, high-protein indulgence.

“With my background leading chilled brands such as Gü in France and Chobani in the UK, I can see just how well-positioned Mighty Slice is to meet this consumer demand.

“Having been passionate about ‘having my cake and eating it’ since my early career, it feels fitting to now support a brand that is redefining what functional treating can look like.”

Tout and Cumming founded Mighty Slice in 2021 and have since won listings with Sainsbury’s, Ocado and Gopuff.

It raised £750k in a funding round earlier this year to help accelerate its retail expansion. The business is also backed by England footballer Reece James and YouTube creator Willne.

Mighty Slice’s range of cheesecakes contain 16g of protein per slice and come in under 255 calories. The brand is forecasting more than £1m of sales in 2025.

“The team have developed an incredible cross category NPD funnel and are growing a base of true super fans,” Fitzpatrick said. “The loyalty and value of their repeat customers far exceed the typical benchmarks in the market.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside the team weekly as we shape the next phase of growth.”
