Moma Foods has extended a recall for a slew of its porridges and halted direct-to-consumer sales, as it seeks to reassure shoppers over the safety of its products.
The recall, announced last week after the discovery of a possible mice contamination event at a third-party manufacturing site last autumn, now covers 15 products.
Among those added to the recall are Jumbo Oats 450g and Blueberry & Vanilla Porridge Sachets 7x40g. Eight-packs of Almond Butter & Salted Caramel Porridge Pot 55g have been removed from the recall, having been erroneously included in the original notice.
Having previously only issued a recall for products with certain batch codes, the AG Barr-owned supplier has now recalled all those with a best before date between 24 April 2026 and 12 March 2027.
The brand has also temporarily removed its porridge products from sale online. The porridge collection on its DTC website returns a ‘404 page not found’ message.

“Ensuring the safety and quality of our products is our top priority,” said a Moma spokesman. “Accordingly, Moma Foods has taken the precautionary decision to expand the recall to cover all Moma porridge and cereal products on the market with a best before date between 24 April 2026 and 12 March 2027, due to potential contamination.
“This precautionary measure is taken in line with our commitment to customer care as we continue to work closely with the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
“Consumers who have purchased any Moma porridge or cereal products should not consume them and should follow the recall instructions to obtain a full refund. Moma Oat Drinks are not included in this recall and remain safe to consume.”

Moma Foods has so far declined to name the third-party supplier at which the mice contamination event occurred.
The brand told The Grocer last week it had paused all manufacturing with the supplier and would be “carrying out audits to confirm the issue has been completely resolved”.
Meanwhile, shelves in Waitrose in Horsham were bereft of Moma Foods products over the weekend, with point-of-sale notices carrying details of the recall.
One shopper claimed they had been able to find Moma products on sale in Waitrose in Chiswick last week, after the original recall was issued.
A Waitrose spokeswoman insisted the retailer had followed the correct processes. “Customer safety is paramount,” she said. “When any product is recalled, we remove it from our shelves, and customer notices are posted online and in stores. As an additional precaution, the impacted product is blocked by our checkout system to prevent it being sold.”
