Morrisons is enhancing its commercial proposition for franchisees as the supermarket giant looks to expand its convenience arm.
Starting this month, all independent retail partners will be offered better rebate rates, with the opportunity to earn up to 6% opposed to the previous cap of 1.5%. The rebates are paid via credit on their account every quarter.
It has also begun rolling out Morrisons loyalty scheme, More Card, to franchisees this summer. It means members can benefit from cheaper prices in their local convenience store and earn points on their purchases.
Retail partners can also benefit from more Morrisons own-label products following an investment across the range, as well as an improved delivery and availability service after Morrisons invested into a new dedicated ambient distribution centre at its Swan Valley site.
The supermarket has also reaffirmed its commitment to ensure the wholesale prices offered to franchisees are always lower than the retail prices in its company-owned Morrisons Daily stores.
Morrisons has around 1,600 convenience stores across the UK, of which 600 are run by franchisees.
“We have made significant strides in recent months to strengthen our Morrisons Daily proposition and set ourselves up for future growth,” said Morrisons director for wholesale convenience Paul Dobson.
“Our new and existing franchise partners are pivotal to our overall success and the team and I have been out and about listening to feedback from them and their customers, seeing first-hand what is working well and what we need to improve on.
“We’re excited to implement these enhanced terms for our independent retail partners and confident they will help us meet our ambitious growth plans for our Morrisons Daily estate.”
The new benefits for independent retailers comes as Morrisons hired two new senior leaders in recent months to help drive strategic growth.
These were Michael Kosciukiewicz for the newly created role of supply chain and logistics director for convenience and wholesale, and Victoria Lockie as the new head of wholesale for srategic projects and acquisitions.
