Morrisons is offering free cake as part of its latest promotion to drive Mother’s Day trade.
All “mums or mother figures” will be able to claim a free slice at any of Morrisons’ in-store cafés nationwide on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March.
Morrisons cafés are also running other dedicated Mother’s Day offers, including an afternoon tea for two for £15.
The offer includes two fruit scones, Rodda’s clotted cream and Tiptree jam, alongside a lemon muffin, a blueberry muffin, a salted caramel brownie and sandwich selection. It’s served with tea for two.
“Mother’s Day is all about celebrating the amazing mums and mother figures in our lives,” said Matt Khan, Morrisons senior café trader.
“We know families are always looking for ways to make special memories without overspending, so we’re delighted to offer mums a well-deserved free slice of cake in our cafés this weekend.”
Despite closing 52 of its in-store cafés in March 2025, CEO Rami Baitiéh sees Morrisons’ hospitality offer as a key point of difference and is investing into its cafés.
Morrisons hired David Ellison from Harry Ramsden’s as its new MD of cafés in March 2025 to lead an overhaul of the offer. It has seen a refresh of menus, as well as the rollout of new promotions and offers.
The offer comes as supermarkets go all-out to drive last-minute trade ahead of Mother’s Day weekend. Morrisons is currently running offers across its dine-in ranges, wine and on items for a Mother’s Day breakfast. It’s also running More Card deals across its range of flowers.
Earlier this week Asda announced it was giving away thousands of free flowers to mums across stores nationwide.
