Davison brings over 20 years of retail and wholesale experience to the role

Morrisons has hired Steve Davison as its new commercial director for convenience.

Davison brings over 20 years of retail and wholesale experience to the role. He began his career in data analytics and market research before spending 15 years at Aldi, from 2005 to 2020, in leadership positions across operations, buying, insight and merchandising.

He has since held senior positions within the wholesale and foodservice sectors, including MD of cash & carry operator Hyperama, where he drove “growth and innovation with his strategic vision and customer focus”, the supermarket giant said.

After a short time outside grocery, Davison said he was excited to return to the food industry and was “eager to bring his leadership and expertise to help shape the future of Morrisons’ convenience offer”.

“We are delighted to welcome Steve Davison to Morrisons as our new commercial director for convenience,” said a Morrisons spokesperson.

It comes as the supermarket made another appointment last week with the hiring of former Nisa boss Peter Batt as operations director for its company-owned convenience business.

Former Morrisons director for convenience, online, wholesale and fuel, Joseph Sutton, meanwhile, left the business last week to rejoin Asda after seven years.

He has taken on the role as vice president for Express, foodservice and fuel, and is replacing Chris Walker who left the business earlier this month.
