Morrisons has launched a new programme of summer promotions, aimed at giving shoppers better value on “hundreds” of seasonal favourites.
The “money-saving offers” include multibuys, online promotions and in-store price cuts, which will run throughout the summer, on products like fresh fruit, chocolate bars and soft drinks.
Morrisons has not revealed how many products will be reduced in price, or how much it is investing into the campaign, but said all promotions would be clearly highlighted in stores, making them easy to spot for customers.
Throughout July and August, Morrisons will bring back its three for £5 multibuy offer on fresh fruit. It covers berries, cherries, grapes, nectarines, apples oranges and pears, with shoppers able to select any three products as part of the offer.
Morrisons will also offer savings on “picnic staples”, including six-packs of Walkers French Fries, which have been reduced to £1.50, from £2.20, until 2 August. Dairylea Dunkers Jumbo Tubes have also been reduced to £1.50. from £3.29. Original and Light variants of Philadelphia Soft Cheese (165g) have been reduced from £2.25 to £1.35 until 28 July.
Staying on the snacking theme, Morrisons has reduced the price of varieties of Penguin biscuits (previously £2), as well as a variety of Cadbury chocolate biscuits including Mini Animals (previously £1.50) and Fingers (previously £2.25) down to £1.25 throughout July.
Multibuys are also running on summer drinks. It includes 2 for £3 on Fever-Tree tonics, as well as 750ml bottles of Schloer.
“With the school holidays meaning more meals at home and more days out, we know value matters more than ever,” said Alex Paver, Morrisons customer value and loyalty director.
“That’s why we’ve focused these savings on our Market Street fresh fruit alongside popular snacks and drinks, helping customers enjoy fresh, quality food and make the most of summer for less.”
Morrisons losing ground to big four rivals and discounters
It is the latest price move from Morrisons this year, following a major cut of thousands of lines in January, followed by another seasonal round of reductions in the spring as it looks to keep track with its big four rivals, and stave off the discounters.
Morrisons was overtaken by Lidl in May as the UK’s fifth-largest grocer by take-home spend, according to Worldpanel by Numerator, formerly Kantar.
