Superfood Spicy Burger, Superfood Spicy Bites and Superfood Crispy Dippers launched through Ocado this week with a £3.50 price tag

Plant-based meat alternative brand Moving Mountains is eyeing health-conscious shoppers with a three-strong ‘nutrient-rich’ superfoods range.

Superfood Spicy Burger (200g), Superfood Spicy Bites (204g) and Superfood Crispy Dippers (210g) launched through Ocado this week with a £3.50 price tag.

The lineup builds on the current wellness trend, which suggests eating 30 different plant-based foods a week to promote a more diverse gut microbiome and is being marketed with ‘plant point’ numbers, to enable shoppers to easily calculate their plant consumption for the week.

Containing ingredients including lentils, chia seeds, chickpeas, seeds and nuts, herbs and spices and fruit and veg, the NPD aims to ”supercharge plates” by including as many nutrients in one portion as possible, said the brand.

The burger and bites provide 15 plant points, while the dippers have 14.25 points.

The products are also a source of protein, containing 8.3g, 9.5g, and 8.5g per 100g, respectively.

“We are thrilled to deliver our new and exciting Superfood range after much innovation, trial and commitment from the team,” said Eleanor Faragher-Siddall, marketing manager of Moving Mountains.

“Making healthy, plant-based eating delicious and simple is our passion and our new range does just that. We’ll be transforming our customers’ mealtimes with unique and great-tasting products that mirror the quality and passion already on offer through our existing range.”

Earlier this year, organic veg box company Riverford Organic Farmers launched a 30 Veg Pledge, backed by Dr Camilla Stokholm, a GP with a special interest in gut health, encouraging families to include 30 different plant-based foods in their weekly diets.

It followed research commissioned by Riverford that revealed that almost half (47%) of British consumers rarely experiment with new fruits and vegetables.
