Category-leading cake brand Mr Kipling has added a duo of microwaveable brownie puddings.
Salted Caramel and Belgian Chocolate both feature a “rich” brownie pudding and “silky smooth” sauce.
The ambient puddings have rolled into selected Tesco and Asda stores in packs of two (rsp: £2.75).
They would attract new customers seeking a “decadent dessert” to the cake aisles, said Mr Kipling owner Premier Foods.
“Mr Kipling is famous for delighting shoppers with a wide variety of treats, so the brand is perfectly positioned to deliver delicious dessert innovation that taps into the latest trends,” said Premier Foods brand director for desserts Rob Watson.
The puddings offered “a superior taste experience that meets the growing demand for those treating moments”, Watson added.
They are the latest additions to Mr Kipling’s Signature Collection, which was bolstered with a Madagascan Vanilla baking range (rsp: £2.99) last month.
Madagascan Vanilla Indulgent Cake Mix and Madagascan Vanilla Fill & Glaze Icing both rolled into selected Tesco stores at the end of April.
Mr Kipling is also making concerted efforts to bolster its better-for-you range. In March, it launched a range of non-HFSS cake slices designed specifically for lunchboxes.
The “light and fluffy” sponge cakes contain real fruit and come in three variants: Raspberry, Banana and Chocolate Orange (rsp: £1.65/four).
