Terry Jones will stand down after 10 years as NFU director general this April

The NFU’s Terry Jones has been appointed to the Marine Management Organisation’s board.

Jones, due to stand down after 10 years as NFU director general this April, has held senior roles at the NFU, Provision Trade Federation and FDF.

Jones, chair of NFU Commercial Holdings and a trustee of RABI, was one of two new non-executive board members and appointed alongside Laura Dance, chief operating officer at the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.

Dance was formerly director of corporate services at the British Antarctic Survey, and is a non-executive director at the Scottish Association for Marine Science and at Welsh Rowing.

They will commence their three-year terms on 1 May 2026.

The MMO was set up to protect and enhance the UK’s marine environment and support economic growth by enabling sustainable marine activities and development.

“Their appointments will further strengthen the board’s leadership and expertise as the MMO continues its mission to protect and enhance our marine environment while supporting sustainable UK economic growth,” a Defra LinkedIn post said.
