It has been refurbished with a ‘modern new look’ and ‘high-impact exterior fascia’

Parfetts has relaunched the first-ever Go Local Extra store.

The wholesaler and symbol group operator said it marked a significant milestone as it continued invest in its retail network.

The Spring Gardens Go Local Extra store in Halifax represents the first store Parfetts launched under its Go Local symbol group in 2012.

It has been refurbished with a “modern new look” and “high-impact exterior fascia”. A dedicated food-to-go area featuring coffee, slush and milkshake stations has also been introduced, as well as an additional chiller unit to expand the store’s fresh and chilled offering. It has also added an illuminated spirits display to elevate the off-licence category.

The store has changed hands since the initial signing and is now operated by Manny Singh, who has renewed his contract with Parfetts in line with the relaunch. He also used to run Go Local stores in Huddersfield and Birmingham.

Parfetts said that the retailer’s decision to renew reflected its retention rates and symbol group advantages, including strong promotions, expert merchandising, and dedicated support from retail development advisors.

“Having operated Go Local stores in both Huddersfield and Birmingham, I knew exactly what I was getting when I took on Spring Gardens,” said Singh. “The brand gives independent retailers the perfect balance, the ultimate buying power and promotional strength to compete effectively, alongside the freedom to run our own businesses.

“Renewing with Go Local for this relaunch was an easy decision. The new look is fantastic, the expanded food-to-go and chilled options directly meet what our customers want, and the team support has been instrumental in getting this store exactly where it needs to be to serve the community.”

Parfetts joint MD Guy Swindell added: “This store will always be special to me, as it was the very first Go Local Extra store I launched back in 2012. To see it thriving 14 years later, undergo this striking redesign, and renew its commitment to the Go Local symbol group is a proud moment for our business. It is a testament to our industry-leading customer service and proves that independent retailers see the long-term value in what we offer.

“Our UK-wide store expansion programme is gathering pace across England, Wales, and Scotland, but our growth is built entirely on the sustained success of pillars of the community like Spring Gardens. We offer retailers total flexibility, transparent trading models, and proper operational backing without restrictive contracts. Manny has done an exceptional job here, and we are delighted to continue supporting his journey.”
