AB World Foods brands Patak’s and Blue Dragon have partnered with Tesco to launch 31 new products to tap growing demand for world foods.
A total of 18 new products from Blue Dragon and 13 from Patak’s will roll into stores from mid-November. They include sauces, toppers, spice mixes, meal kits and snacks.
The NPD would give shoppers “new and exciting ways to enjoy world flavour”, said AB World Foods.
Some 89% of shoppers now enjoyed world foods at home, AB World Foods said, citing Mintel data. The category was now “seen as an affordable and indulgent alternative to eating out”, the supplier added.
Launches from Patak’s include Black Dhal (rsp: £2.50/270g), Easy Biryani Spice mix (rsp: £1.35/25g), Railway Curry Meal Kit (rsp: £3.00/270g) and Pineapple Chutney (rsp: £2.25/210g). The range contained “everything you need to create a restaurant-quality Indian banquet at home”, said AB World Foods.
Blue Dragon’s new products, meanwhile, include Sriracha Hot Honey Toppers (rsp: £3.25/250g), Drunken Noodles Meal Kits (rsp: £3.20/226g), Wasabi Crackers (rsp: £1.85/70g) and Tom Yum Paste (rsp: £2.30/170g). The NPD would “bring delicious Asian flavour to everyday meals, with minimum effort”, AB World Foods added.
“At AB World Foods we’re all about inspiring shoppers to discover the incredible flavours of the world,” said Chris Heyn, marketing director for Patak’s and Blue Dragon.
Partnering with Tesco was “a fantastic opportunity to introduce shoppers to an exciting and convenient new range of authentic dishes, flavours, snacks and accompaniments”, Heyn said.
“This is all part of our commitment to deliver long-term category growth by getting world flavour on every plate,” he added.
