BBQ Sweet Tang is Doritos’ fastest-growing variant

Peperami has teamed up with Doritos to launch a limited-edition BBQ Sweet Tang stick.

Rolling out across singles (rsp: £1.30/28g), single PMPs (£1.25 or two for £2) five-packs (rsp: £3/5x20g) and minis (rsp: £3/10x10g), the new flavour – Doritos’ fastest-growing tortilla chips variant – is expected to attract young adult shoppers to the Peperami brand.

The snacks will launch in the traditional big four supermarkets, Ocado and Amazon this month.

This iconic partnership brings together two bold, much-loved brands,” said Peperami head of marketing Karina Carrico.

“By pairing Peperami’s protein-packed sticks with Doritos’ distinctive flavour credentials, we are opening up new usage occasions and giving retailers a major opportunity to drive incremental sales,” Carrico added.

The launch will be supported by a £3.5m media campaign across social media, digital, TV and shopper marketing.

Doritos BBQ Sweet Tang was initially introduced as “The Ghast BBQ” in January as part of the brand’s promotional activity ahead of the release of A Minecraft Movie. It was brought back as a permanent extension to the range in April.

Also in April, Peperami added Chicken Tikka Skewers. The launch was supported by a stunt at The Glades shopping centre in Bromley, where members of the public were invited to rip into a giant cardboard box to find the skewers, among other prizes. A dedicated TV and digital campaign featuring Peperami’s mascot, ‘The Animal’, followed in May.
