PepsiCo has added a range of coated peanuts in flavours inspired by its popular crisps brands.
Called That’s Nuts, the range will hit shelves on 16 July in six variants: Walkers Salt & Vinegar, Walkers Smoky Bacon, Doritos Chilli Heatwave, Doritos Flamin’ Hot, Wotsits Really Cheesy and Walkers Max Paprika.
All six variants will launch in a 160g pack (rsp: £2.75) suited to sharing occasions. Walkers Salt & Vinegar and Walkers Smoky Bacon will also be available in a 40g pack (rsp: £1) for on-the-go snacking.
While the nuts segment had seen “strong growth in recent years”, there was “headroom to drive this further, as some shoppers perceive existing nuts products to be bland and boring”, said PepsiCo, citing Bolt consumer data [October 2023 to September 2024].
“PepsiCo’s latest launch aims to appeal to this broader range of consumers to drive greater expansion and sales – from crisp buyers and loyal brand fans to regular nuts purchasers and new shoppers,” it added.
“Flavoured nuts are predicted to be worth over £200m in retail by 2030, and we have seen shoppers increasingly on the hunt for bold and exciting new flavours across the savoury snacks categories,” said PepsiCo marketing strategy & operations senior manager Ed Orr-Ewing.
“That’s Nuts brings these two trends together in one delicious range that we believe will help retailers drive further incremental sales.”
The innovations will be supported by “bold” in-store activations and will play a “starring role” in PepsiCo’s 2025 festive campaign.
