Pizza Express is targeting home cooks with a duo of Italian tomato pizza sauces.

Classic and Chilli (rsp: £2.25/400g) are made with 100% Italian tomatoes, which are grown in Parma and transformed into sauce within 24 hours of harvest.

Containing Pizza Express’ “signature secret recipe of spices and seasonings”, they have rolled into Morrisons today (10 November).

The innovations responded to consumer demand, with “many customers asking for our restaurant sauce that they know and love to be added to our supermarket range”, according to Pizza Express retail director Richard Mills.

It comes on the back of a flurry of innovation for Pizza Express, which launched its four-strong Speciale range of 11-inch chilled pizzas into retail in September.

Comprising Margherita, Pollo ad Astra, Pollo American and Quattro Carne, “our Speciale range has been designed to evoke a genuine Pizza Express restaurant experience at home,” said Chris Holmes, the brand’s chief commercial officer.

In the same month, Pizza Express brought its Hot Honey Dough Balls and a nine-inch American Hot pizza to supermarket chillers, before launching frozen Dough Balls into Sainsbury’s Local in October.

Pizza Express will this week (11 November) launch its Christmas restaurant menu for 2025, including Dough Balls in Blankets, Cola-Glazed Ham Hock Romana Pizza and a Snowball Dough Ball Christmas Tree.
