Rugby chiefs have signed drinks manufacturer Alfresco to launch a carbonated product named after England’s rugby anthem, Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.
The offering is part of Rugby Football Union’s bid to build on
the sport’s popularity after the World Cup win last November.
Rsp is 99p for a 330ml can, with £1 per case going to the RFU to help promote the sport at junior levels.
Already listed in Waitrose and Tesco, and on sale at major rugby venues, the newcomer is a blend of grape and elderflower flavours and is free from additives, colouring, preservatives and sugar.
Packaging features the music and lyrics of Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, which Kim Hurst, commercial manager for Alfresco, claimed was a major motivation for consumers to buy…mainly to learn the words of the song.
