Rio Mare has launched its Tuna Fillets in Olive Oil into Tesco, Asda, Booths, Ocado and Amazon.

The premium Italian brand said the tuna fillets (rsp: £4.19/180g) were positioned to drive “premiumisation within the shelf-stable seafood category”, with the glass jar format enhancing appeal and visibility against tinned rivals.

The product is made from tuna loins that are twice cleaned and hand-prepared before being packed in olive oil with a pinch of sea salt.

The brand said this resulted in “whole, neatly compacted fillets” and a “refined flavour profile that aligns with growing consumer demand for authentic, minimally processed, and premium imported foods”.

“Perfect enjoyed on its own as a main course, featured in gourmet salads, served in appetisers and cold preparations, or into traditional Mediterranean recipes,” it added.

The SKU provides 19g protein while being low in saturated fat and carbohydrates, which Rio Mare said aligned the fillets with keto, Mediterranean and protein‑forward diets.

Rio Mare sourced the tuna from certified fisheries, adding that it supported responsible fishing practices designed to protect marine ecosystems.

It also includes a traceability system that allows consumers to verify sourcing, which Rio Mare said reinforced transparancy and built trust.
