Mark Hodge

Mark Hodge joins after two decades at McCain Foods

Samworth Brothers has appointed Mark Hodge as managing director of its malt loaf brand Soreen.

Hodge brings two decades of experience from McCain Foods, where he served as vice president of marketing for more than 12 years.

In his new role, Hodge would help Soreen leverage its nutritional credentials to “tap into the evolving health and wellness agenda”, according to Samworth.

Hodge said: “I’m looking forward to making Soreen even more iconic, ensuring its success for future generations by exploring new spaces to take the brand within and beyond grocery, while championing its feel-good nutrition values as the health agenda continues to evolve, including the growing influence of GLP-1s on consumer behaviour.”

He succeeds Beth Brown, who rejoined Soreen as MD in 2024, having previously held the role of marketing director between 2014 and 2021.

During her tenure as MD, Brown’s leadership was “instrumental in returning Soreen to growth”, Samworth said.

She will remain with the British food manufacturer, transitioning to a new role of group strategy director.

In January, Samworth announced an executive board shake‑up, appointing Stephen Cunningham as interim CFO. Cunningham will replace Charles Noble, who is set to leave the business in April.

It also appointed Matt Austin as brands and strategy director, while Clare Moore joined as chief people officer.
