Premium potato crisps brand Savoursmiths has unveiled Little Savoursmiths Peter’s Patch Potato & Cauliflower Sticks, its first product for young children.

Developed under licence from Frederick Warne & Co, the Penguin Random House imprint that controls the Peter Rabbit character, Savoursmiths’ new snack is vegan, nut-free and gluten-free. Available in Buttery and Cheesy (rsps: £1-£1.50/11g & TBC/4x11g), it will roll into 800 Co-op stores from the first week of August. Both variants are low in salt and sugar while promising to be “light, crispy and made from real potato and cauliflower”.

Made on the Savoursmiths farm in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, Peter’s Patch Potato & Cauliflower Sticks is designed for kids aged three to six.

“We have spent years building Savoursmiths into a brand that stands for provenance, quality and real ingredients. With Little Savoursmiths, we wanted to bring that same ethos to children’s snacking – and there is no better partner for that story than Peter Rabbit,” said Colette Russell Smith, Savoursmiths founder.

“This is a snack made on our family farm, inspired by a world that has captivated children and parents alike for over 120 years. We are immensely proud of what we have created.”

Savoursmiths made its debut in autumn 2016 with skin-on potato crisps in Champers & Serrano Chilli, Truffle & Rosemary, Parmesan & Port, and Wagyu Beef with Honey & Mustard – made by a local third-party manufacturer.

In April 2020, the brand announced the launch of a 10,000 sq ft factory housing £1m of equipment, to bring manufacturing in-house and allow for the production of between eight and 15 million bags of crisps per year.

Over the past 10 years, the core Savoursmiths lineup has expanded and evolved to comprise Desert Salt, Desert Salt & Vinegar, Desert Salt & Black Pepper, Somerset Cheddar & Shallot, Wagyu Beef & Honey Mustard, Bubbly & Serrano Chilli, Truffle & Rosemary, Italian Cheese & Wine, and Christmas Ham with Umami Truffle Glaze.
