Somerset cider brand Showerings has landed a nationwide listing with Tesco.
Its flagship Triple Vintage Cider has rolled out across 490 larger stores, as well as online (rsp: £3.50/375ml).
Made predominantly from late season dabinett apples grown in a single orchard, the 6.8% abv tipple was “a true expression of Somerset’s terroir”, according to Showerings.
The brand, which sealed a supermarket debut as part of a shake-up of the beer and cider offer at Waitrose last summer, is one of several producers looking to take advantage of renewed interest in premium and craft apple ciders.
The listing with Tesco reflected growing momentum behind the fine cider category, which was moving from “niche and on-trade environments into mainstream retail”, the supplier added.
“This is a significant moment not just for our brand, but for the fine cider category as a whole,” said Showerings director Nick Showering. “Our mission has always been to elevate the perception of cider and showcase it as a product of true craftsmanship and quality.
“This partnership with Tesco shows that momentum is building and that fine cider is becoming the drink of choice for many consumers.”
Alongside listings with Tesco and Waitrose, Showerings Triple Vintage is also sold in specialist retailers such as Selfridges, and in fine dining establishments across London and the rest of the UK.
