Ingredients supplier Silbury Marketing has been snapped up by tomato and vegetable processor Kagome Co.
Founded in 1899, the Japanese group supplies a range of tomato products, including pizza and pasta sauces, and tinned tomatoes.
The acquisition of Oxfordshire’s Silbury gives Kagome its first foothold in the UK and the wider European market.
Silbury and Kagome have been long-term partners, with Silbury holding a shareholding in the two Kagome tomato processing plants in Portugal.
“With a partnership extending beyond 20 years, Kagome has been a trusted supply partner to Silbury,” said Kagome Foods Portugal CEO Shugo Yuasa.
“This acquisition signifies a natural evolution of that long-standing relationship, reflecting both companies’ shared vision for future growth.”
Silbury CEO Paul Kingsley-Bates added: “We are proud to become part of the Kagome group and look forward to building on our shared commitment to future success and sustainable growth.”
Silbury has more than 40 years’ experience of supplying food manufacturers, retailers, high street chains and foodservice businesses across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
It generated revenues of almost £100m in 2024 and is known for supplying processed tomatoes, oils and fats, pizza sauces, ready-to-eat cooked meats and plant-based products to high street chains, fast food restaurants, foodservice outlets and wholesalers.
