Functional drinks brand Skïp has continued its push beyond CBD, adding two magnesium-infused lines.
Berry & Cherry and Kiwi & Lime (rsp: £1.99/250ml) contain 188mg magnesium as well as vitamins B6 and D.
They have rolled into Home Bargains and the brand’s webstore, and will hit Amazon in August.
Magnesium is associated with improved sleep quality, stress management and improved energy. Meanwhile, vitamin B6 contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system and vitamin D helps maintain strong bones and teeth.
They drinks, which are vegan with no added sugar, were developed with a team of researchers from the University of Oxford.
“Health-conscious consumers are increasingly looking for drinks that offer benefits beyond hydration,” claimed Adam Pritchard, co-founder of Skïp.
“We believe that our sparkling magnesium and vitamin-enriched drinks will resonate particularly well with Gen Z who are drinking less alcohol, care about ingredients and want function with convenience,” Pritchard added.
Skïp debuted in 2024, claiming its CBD drinks were the first in the category which were fully compliant with category regulations.
The brand’s CBD range – available in flavours including Peach & Ginger, Elderflower & Mint, and Lemon & Basil – uses cold-pressed CBD extracted from hemp oil.
CBD from hemp oil is considered non-novel by the Food Standards Agency, meaning it does not require novel food licensing for sale.
Even so, Skïp broadened its remit to add two lion’s mane-infused drinks in January, Blood Orange and Cloudy Apple.
Rivals Trip and Goodrays have also diversified beyond CBD drinks in recent months. Trip launched Mindful Blend – made with lion’s mane and magnesium – in April 2024. Goodrays then added Re:Focus, containing lion’s mane, magnesium and electrolytes, in October.
