Braised Veggie Pie and Spanish Chorizo Style Pie are in Tesco

Squeaky Bean has launched a duo of plant-based pies.

Billed as a “first to market”, Braised Veggie Pie and Spanish Chorizo Style Pie feature fermented vegetables to deliver “the kind of umami depth typically associated with meat”.

Braised Veggie Pie features chestnut mushrooms, beetroot and onion, plus a stout gravy and spices, complete with a puff pastry lid.

Spanish Chorizo Style Pie, meanwhile, features butter beans and courgettes, also topped with puff pastry. It signals a “new direction” for Squeaky Bean, which has “more bean-based innovation to come”.

Both pies (rsp: £3.75/209g) have launched into Tesco stores nationwide.

“At Squeaky Bean, we’re always looking for ways to inject plant-based excitement into other categories, and we identified an opportunity with pies,” said Yvonne Adam, CMO at Squeaky Bean owner The Compleat Food Group.

“The hot pie category is now worth £424m and vegan pies are growing at over 14% in value, so it’s the perfect time for us to bring something new to the table,” Adam added, citing Kantar and Circana data [52 w/e 10 August 2025 & 52 w/e 9 August 2025].

The launch will be supported by a social media campaign and in-store sampling.

It comes after Squeaky Bean launched a duo of ready-to-eat tofu slices and a Super Grain & Vegetable Burger into supermarkets at the start of 2025, to coincide with Veganuary.
