European lolly brand Chupa Chups is building up its sugar-free offering in the UK.
It is extending distribution of its new Cremosa sub-brand to the trade at large following a successful trial in chemists at the end of last year.
Cremosa is made almost entirely from Isomalt, a “natural-based” sugar substitute which is “proven to help protect teeth”, said the company. Each strawberry and cream lollipop (rsp: 35p) contains 27 calories and is gluten free.
A national TV campaign targeting mothers and kids will break in March.
UK MD Graham Dyer claimed sales of Cremosa would be incremental to the brand.
“Our introduction of Cremosa to chemists showed a significant rise in Chupa Chups sales without any decline in the existing portfolio,” said Dyer. “Store tests showed Cremosa offers up to 80% incremental sales.”
