Days Brewing Lager

Days Brewing is stocked by UK retailers including Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado

Days Brewing was acquired by Sunrise Beverages for an initial consideration of just £1m earlier this year, newly filed accounts for the Kent-based beer business have revealed.

The deal, announced in May of this year, saw the non-alcoholic beer brand join a roster of breweries including Curious Brewery, Gipsy Hill Brewing, Wild Beer Co and St Peter’s Brewery in the Sunrise portfolio.

Financial details were not disclosed at the time, with Days founders Mike Gammell and Duncan Keith joining Sunrise as employees following the transaction.

The £1m figure related “just to the first payment” of the deal and didn’t reflect its “full value”, insisted Gammell.

“The total price has a guaranteed minimum and a maximum, with the final amount linked to our performance over the next few years,” he told The Grocer. “We’re not disclosing the full terms but the floor alone is considerably higher than £1m.”

Days Brewing remains stocked by UK retailers including Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado. However, off-trade sales of its 0.0% Alcohol Free Lager and 0.0% Alcohol Free Pale Ale fell 26.6% to £599k in the year to April [NIQ 52 w/e 19 April 2026].

The business has raised more than £7m since being founded in 2021 to support growth, with high-profile backers including Mindful Chef founder Giles Humphries, Propercorn founder Ryan Kohn, and former Camden Town Brewery MD Adam Keary.

At the time of its sale to Sunrise, the business remained loss-making. Cumulative losses on 31 December 2025 stood at £6.7m, up from £5.3m on the same date in 2024, according to abridged accounts for the challenger brand.

“We’re really pleased to be part of the Sunrise platform,” said Gammell. “We’ve already seen the impact of Days being part of a broader portfolio and we’re excited about what is coming next for the business.”

Meanwhile, sales at Sunrise Beverages have surged following a slew of acquisitions by the business formed after the owners of St Peter’s Brewery struck a deal to buy Curious Brewing and Wild Beer Co in 2023.

Turnover at Sunrise in the 12 months ended 31 December 2025 stood at £19.7m, up significantly from £6.7m in the comparative period (nine months to 31 December 2024) in the year prior. This reflected portfolio expansion and the integration of acquired brands including Portobello Brewing and Gipsy Hill, Sunrise said.

Meanwhile, the company’s operating losses widened to £6.9m, reflecting one-off capital investments and integration costs, and the fact that several of the acquired brands were loss-making at acquisition.

Losses before tax, meanwhile, stood at £7.5m, up from the £2.8m in the comparative nine-month period the year prior.

“2025 was a positive year for Sunrise,” CEO Richard Mather told The Grocer. “We integrated the acquisitions made in late 2024 and commenced sales and operations of our Efes and Orion license brands for the first time. This drove strong growth for our business.

“EBITDA losses are in line with expectations and a result of our integration plan and platform buildout.”
