Inter Link Foods has paid £2.7m to buy Cakes for the Connoisseur from receivers appointed to run NFF. A further payment of £400,00 could be paid based on future turnover levels. Cakes for the Connoisseur distributes cakes, biscuits and confectionery products to more than 8,000 outlets. It made a pretax profit of £989,000 on £13.29m sales in the year to March 31. But Inter Link says its results for the current year will be significantly below that level because of cash flow problems within NFF. Jeremy Hamer, Inter Link's chairman, said: "We believe this acquisition will strengthen our links with our growing customer base." NFF went into receivership after running into financial difficulties caused by expansion (The Grocer, last week, p12). {{NEWS }}
