Thatchers commercial director Jonathan Nixon has left the Somerset-based cider business.
Nixon, who joined Thatchers from Booker in September 2022, said it was “the right time” for him to “seek out other entrepreneurial opportunities in another food and drink business”.
“After three greatly successful and happy years with Thatchers and after much reflection, I have made the difficult decision that now is the right time for me to leave,” he said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Thatchers where we have considerably grown market share and outperformed the market in both the on and the off-trade.
“I have loved developing all of the Thatchers brands and have learnt a lot. However, now is the right time for me to seek other entrepreneurial opportunities in another food and drink business.”
Thatchers cidermaker Martin Thatcher added: “We would like to acknowledge Jon’s considerable skills in developing our brand and in promoting our ongoing growth in the marketplace. Over the last three years Thatchers has considerably grown market share and outperformed the market in both the on- and off-trade.
“Jon leaves Thatchers with our full support and best wishes for the future.”
Nixon’s replacement at Thatchers is yet to be confirmed.
The family-owned cider company has managed to buck wider malaise in the cider category in recent years.
After stealing share from cheaper rivals like Strongbow, turnover at the business climbed 16.3% to £203.9m in the year to 31 August 2024.
