The Fish Society has scored a listing with Ocado for five of its premium frozen seafood products.

Yellowfin Tuna Steaks (225g), Wild Bluefin Tuna Steaks (260g), Miso Black Cod (140g), Wild Swordfish Steaks (350g) and Arctic Char Fillet Steaks (260g), are available now with rsps starting from £9.40.

The signing is the biggest to date for the online fishmonger, which was founded 25 years ago as direct-to-consumer business and carries over 300 SKUs on its website.

“We at The Fish Society are very thrilled to launch our beautiful range of fish into Ocado,” said Jeremy Grieve, chief executive of The Fish Society.

“Until now, the majority of our successes have come from our D2C platform/website, but as we observe the opportunity for a strong premium fish brand in this category, we have recently grown into retail with Harrods and Abel & Cole. The launch of our range into Ocado is our biggest yet.”

The launch hopes to capitalise on the growing UK frozen fish & seafood market, which has a compound annual growth rate of 4.2%, according to GlobalData.

Zee Ahmad, Ocado’s senior buyer (frozen), described the frozen category as “having its moment”.

“We’ve seen exciting outperformance at Ocado over the last 12-18 months,” Ahmad said. “In addition, Ocado is on a mission to bring more newness to our shoppers, particularly where we can partner with emerging challenger brands, supported by our Ocado Roots programme.

“The Fish Society launch is a great example of the accessibility and premium quality frozen foods can offer, and we are very excited to introduce these new species to our shoppers.”
