Through a new partnership with the Flemish Fish Auction (pictured), the company will access major European buyers, create new international routes and strengthen the commercial reach for its locally grown prawns

Three-Sixty Aquaculture will construct an indoor prawn farm in Ostend in Belgium, marking its first major European expansion.

The Swansea-based aquaculture business said installation was underway, with the first harvest expected in late summer. The Ostend facility will provide fresh, premium, head‑on, shell‑on prawns to retailers and wholesalers across Europe.

The business, which produces sushi-grade prawns, said the site will use its Recirculating Aquaculture System, a clearwater system that continuously cleans and recycles water using mechanical and biological filtration, advanced disease control measures, biosecurity protocols, and UV disinfection.

Through a new partnership with the Flemish Fish Auction, the company will access major European buyers, create new international routes and strengthen the commercial reach for its locally grown prawns.

The project was supported by Marifish.Inc, an initiative backed by the European Food Centre, Voka Chamber of Commerce and Industry West Flanders, and West Flanders Development Agency that supports startups in the fishing and aquaculture sector.

“Taking our UK‑developed technology into mainland Europe is a pivotal moment for the business,” said Three‑Sixty Aquaculture CEO James Fox‑Davies. “This expansion proves that British aquaculture innovation can scale internationally, delivering fresher, more sustainable seafood.”

He added: “Our partnership with the Flemish Fish Auction gives us a strong commercial platform across Europe and reinforces the credibility of the systems we’ve built here in Swansea.”
