Tropicana has jumped on the functional trend, adding a duo of chilled juices with coconut water, magnesium and vitamins.
Pineapple with Coconut Water and Mango with Coconut Water have debuted in Asda ahead of a wider rollout in Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons and across convenience (rsp: £3.50/850ml). A 300ml single‑serve variant will land later this year.
The NPD consists of “refreshing tropical fruit flavours” alongside coconut water and added magnesium and vitamins E, C, B1, B2 and B6.
It was designed to offer “a refreshing and great-tasting way to hydrate in a juice format consumers already know and trust”, said Tropicana.
“Hydration is becoming increasingly important to consumers,” said Liz Ashdown, marketing director at Tropicana Brands Group. “Sales of functional drinks have grown 31% since 2022 [Circana], while hydration-related online searches have multiplied by 1,000% since 2021 [Google Trends].
“Tropicana Hydrate+ builds on what people already love about Tropicana, combining delicious fruit with functional hydration to create a natural pick-me-up for consumers looking to quench their thirst.”
Tropicana has sought to diversify its portfolio in recent years amid evolving consumer trends and the soaring price of fruit juice.
Last April, it introduced Tropicana Fresh & Light, a new range of juices containing 30% less sugar.
And in 2024, it added a duo of sparkling juices in Zesty Orange and Tropical Twist.
Despite NPD efforts, its sales have continued to slide, falling 4.8% to £150.2m – on volumes down 14.2% – last year [NIQ 52 w/e 27 December 2025].
