Wall’s Twister looks set to launch a spin-off ice lolly, called Twister Poppi.
Owner The Magnum Ice Cream Company has applied to register a logo featuring the text “Twister Poppi” with the Intellectual Property Office under class 30, covering ice cream and water ices.
The activity points to a potential tie-up between Twister and PepsiCo-owned prebiotic soda brand Poppi.
US brand Poppi was snapped up by PepsiCo for $1.95bn in March and is set for a UK launch this year through a tie-up with Carlsberg Britvic.
Poppi had not responded to requests by the time of publication.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for The Magnum Ice Cream Company told The Grocer: “We regularly explore a wide range of ideas as we look to innovate and evolve our product offering.
“We often file trademarks as part of that process and these filings are not an indication of any specific or confirmed product plans,” he added.
The Magnum Ice Cream Company has this month added products under Carte D’Or and Magnum, following the completion of its split from Unilever in December.
For Carte D’Or, it has added Sundae – a “unique” ice cream tub with a customisable crunchy topping – in Chocolate and Strawberry.
Meanwhile, it has added two Magnum ice creams inspired by trending patisserie flavours: La Pistache and La Pêche.
