Croque Monsieur and Croque Fromage (rsp: £3/140g) have rolled into Sainsbury’s

Unearthed has added a duo of ready-to-cook French sandwiches.

Croque Monsieur and Croque Fromage (rsp: £3/140g) are “oozing” with emmental and raclette cheese, topped bechamel sauce. The former also includes sliced French ham.

The sandwiches can be air-fried in eight minutes or oven baked in 10 minutes, making them “an ideal lunch or snack option”, according to Unearthed.

They were crafted in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France – the home of the Croque Monsieur – and were a “market first” for the fixture, it claimed.

They have already hit Sainsbury’s chillers and will roll into Tesco on 6 October.

“Our research shows a clear gap in the market for premium, convenient sandwich products to be enjoyed at home, beyond those available in food-to-go,” said Unearthed head of marketing Carrie Hollis-Patel.

“French cuisine by association is a synonym for premium, so the Croque Monsieur and Croque Fromage’s traditional, authentic French ingredients and production methods are well placed to meet this demand,” Hollis-Patel added.

The launch will be supported by PoS material and a targeted social and influencer campaign.
