Garreth Wilson is stepping into the newly created role of head of foodservice development at Unitas

Unitas has appointed former Total Foodservice managing director Garreth Wilson to the newly-created role of head of foodservice development.

The role, which has been made to develop and deliver a growth strategy for the buying group’s foodservice members, will involve engaging with members, understanding their businesses and identifying opportunities to grow sales.

Wilson brings more than 20 years of senior leadership experience across foodservice, wholesale, fmcg and multi-site distribution to Unitas.

Prior to his more than 10-year tenure at Total Foodservice, Wilson spent over a decade in roles including operations director and commercial director at York-based wholesaler Miller Food Service.

“Garreth has a proven track record in foodservice development and will be an excellent addition to our leadership team as we continue to strengthen our foodservice proposition and enhance the support we provide to our members,” said Unitas CEO John Kinney.

“We are delivering on our ambition to implement a compelling growth strategy for our members and supplier partners, and we are delighted to have Garreth playing a huge part in reaching that goal.”

Wilson was introduced to Unitas members, 48 suppliers and support centre staff at the group’s Foodservice Meet the Member event in June.

He added: “Having the members and suppliers all together in one place has been the perfect way to start this new adventure. I’m looking forward to exploring how we can work even closer together over the coming months.”
