Waitrose is permanently extending its quick commerce delivery hours at some stores in the wake of positive results during this summer’s World Cup.
The upmarket retailer initially extended its delivery hours at more than 50 stores so that football fans could access rapid delivery options in and around many of the late night and early morning kick-off using Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat.
It is now making those extensions permanent at 35 stores. Most of these stores will fulfil orders until midnight while some of the most high demand stores will offer deliveries 24/7.
The retailer said it was not extending physical trading hours at stores while alcoholic drinks will not be available for delivery beyond current hours.
“The World Cup proved that our food-loving customers value the flexibility of shopping at Waitrose whenever they need us,” said Waitrose director of online Laura Burbedge.
“By extending our delivery windows, we’re making it even more convenient to access the delicious, high-quality food our customers love.”
