Walmart has invited UK food and drink companies to register to a new Seller Summit in September

Walmart has kicked off a major push to recruit new UK suppliers for its e-commerce marketplaces across the Americas.

The world’s largest grocer has established a new seller office in London, to better support British and European businesses looking to supply its online marketplaces in the US, Canada, Mexico and Chile.

Suppliers will be offered access to “powerful tools and services” to help them “rapidly scale up” across the Atlantic, including how to navigate local food safety regulations. They will also be able to tap into Walmart’s fulfilment infrastructure in Canada, Chile and Mexico, enabling them to fulfil orders in as little as two days.

Walmart is hosting a UK Seller Summit on 9 September, and inviting suppliers in UK food and drink, as well as fashion, beauty, home and other categories, to register.

“UK and European businesses have a well-earned reputation for quality, innovation and exceptional design,” said Andrea Albright, Walmart International executive vice president and chief growth officer.

“By partnering with Walmart, sellers can bring those strengths to millions of customers in the US, Canada, Mexico and Chile – all with the speed, scale and support that only Walmart can provide. We’re excited to work side by side with these sellers to unlock new opportunities and help them grow faster than ever before.”

Since launching in 2009, Walmart Marketplace has become one of the largest and fastest-growing retailer-owned third-party e-commerce marketplaces. Around 270 million customers visit its 10,750 ‘stores’ per week.

Walmart announced a major expansion of its capabilities and reach following its US Seller Summit in August 2024, such as adding new categories, including beauty, in the US. At the 2025 US Seller Sumit, last month, it announced plans to improve its next-day delivery capabilities.

E-commerce marketplaces are also a growing focus for UK supermarkets. Since launching its own marketplace in June 2024, Tesco has rapidly grown the number of SKUs offered to more than 300,000. The supermarket said Tesco Marketplace would make its website “a one-stop shop for everything customers need”.
