Scottish specialist the Whisky Shop is set to open its first stores south of the Border after being sold for £1.5m.
The chain’s new owner, Ian Bankier, who was formerly chief executive of CL World Brands, which bought a clutch of whisky labels from the Edrington Group last year, wants the number of shops to double.
The Whisky Shop currently has six sites including premises in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness each boasting a range of over 400 unusual whiskies.
Bankier said: “Our goal will be to take The Whisky Shop chain into high streets right across the UK. We have already identified a number of town and city centre locations.”
