Sainsbury's launches Click & Collect service

Sainsbury’s has launched a grocery click & collect service and will be rolling it out across the estate, with 100 stores set to offer free collection by the end of 2015.

The very first collection service went live today at Sainsbury’s Water Lane store in Farnham, Surrey.

“This is yet another step for Sainsbury’s increasingly popular online service, and a demonstration of our commitment to giving our customers more convenient ways to shop with us, wherever and whenever they want,” said Sainsbury’s online director Robbie Feather.

“We’ll have 20 locations live by the end of March and will quickly roll out our service from there, incorporating feedback from our customers and colleagues as we go.”

Customers will be able to select a collect option for online shops of £20 or more when shopping online once the service reaches their catchment area. The free collection slots will be on offer from Monday-Saturday, from 8am-1pm and 2pm-8pm and on Sundays during store opening times.  

Sainsbury’s said orders can be placed up 20 days in advance and no later than 11pm for next day delivery. 

The orders will be served from a refrigerated van, which will park outside each store in a designated area of the car park, manned by a Sainsbury’s colleague.
