The Grocer has a new face at the helm of its news desk from next week.

Richard Clarke will become news editor after two years as fresh foods editor, running The Grocer's Market Edge section.

Prior to joining The Grocer in 2004, Clarke spent two years at the National Farmers' Union, where he launched and edited a magazine for the organisation's 60,000 members.

He has also worked on a range of fmcg trade titles, including stints in the dairy sector and the cosmetics and toiletries industry.

Clarke heads a team comprising deputy news editor Rachel Barnes, senior reporter Rod Addy, reporters Geoff Igharo and Gaelle Walker and online editor Beth Brooks.

He said: "I look forward to working with our fantastic news team to keep bringing you the hottest stories every week."
