Charlotte Morey, trading manager of MBL and Gavin Tennent, retail development manager of WRVS, which runs hospital shops and cafés, have joined the board of directors of the Association of News Retailing. James Lowman, chief executive of the Association of Convenience Stores, has been appointed company secretary.

OFT policy chief

The Office of Fair Trading has appointed Jonathan May as executive director of policy and strategy. May joined the OFT in 2001 and is promoted from the role of director of markets and policies initiatives. In his new role he will lead the OFT's strategy and policy across its consumer and competition functions.

The craft of logistics

Octavian, the fine wines division of logistics company CERT Group, has appointed Charles Craft as operations director for its Hoddesdon service centre. Craft joins Octavian from office supplies retailer Office World where he was logistics director. Prior to Office World he worked in logistics roles at Marks and Spencer for 17 years.

Bradshaw rises

Ben Bradshaw MP, parliamentary secretary for local environment, marine and animal welfare, has been promoted to minister of state within the department. Bradshaw joined Defra in June 2003 and has also held the role of minister for nature conservation and fisheries.

Heart beat

Heart of England Fine Foods has appointed Neal Harris as marketing executive with responsibility for Birmingham and the Black Country. He joins from Delice de France where he spent eight years in a variety of sales roles. At HEFF he will link local producers, growers and processors with the retail and foodservice sectors.
